The game takes place in a step-by-step manner, letting you strategically fight your opponent in increments. In each interval there are two turns, one taken by each opponent.

There are a variety of attacks to choose from, all of which depend on your current arsenal and skill sets. Between each level you have the opportunity to buy more weapons and skills in various shops around the town. The thing that makes this game unique in comparison to other fighting role-playing games is that you have access to a full open world, where you can interact with other characters to enhance your own fighting capabilities. If you want to do your best in Swords and Sandals 3 then you will need to buy new upgrades between each level.

This edition of Swords and Sandals is by far the best version of the game, offering more upgrades and attacks than all of its predecessors. When you are fighting be sure to keep your eye on the health meter at the top of the screen. The battles can become intensely exciting when both gladiators are down to their last bit of health, so try to focus on your health meter just as much as your fighting strategy in order to stay alive and earn the most points for your upgrades in Swords and Sandals 3.
